Chatière Électronique, Door 2, ECE 342 W22

Chatière électronique is the French word for Electronic Pet Door. The goal of this project was to build an electronic pet door that opens and closes using an RFID scanner that would ideally be attached to a pet's collar so that the pet could enter the door from the front. In the back, we implemented a weight scale using load sensors that measure the weight of the animal and is accurate to +- 0.5 lbs. We also implemented a clock that is displayed on the LCD screen that shows the date and time and is surprisingly quite accurate. In order to fulfill a requirement of the door being able to withstand 30lbs of force, a slice of wood was used as the actual door as opposed to plastic so that it could hold that weight. All of the wires that are entering or exiting the door are connected within an enclosure. The PCB was likely the hardest part of the project as it was very finicky in terms of connection as it failed a couple of times when it was connected to the Arduino Mega.
