This project presents our team’s findings of the static and dynamic analysis performed on all three malware samples. Each team member explains the techniques and tools used to examine their assigned sample, along with the key behaviors and indicators identified during analysis. We compare findings from both static and dynamic analysis, including file characteristics, process activity, system changes, network behavior, and other suspicious actions observed in controlled environments. The discussion brings together the results from all three samples and highlights how combining multiple analysis methods helps provide a clearer understanding of malware behavior.

Malware Analysis Demo video This team project explores malware behavior across multiple operating systems and malware samples using isolated virtual environments. Each team member performed static and dynamic analysis on a different sample or platform, including Windows, Linux, and Android, while documenting suspicious processes, file and registry activity, network behavior, persistence techniques, and other indicators of malicious activity. My portion of the project focused on ransomware, examining its structure and behavior through both static and dynamic analysis. Together, the individual investigations demonstrate how different malware families operate and how analysts can use repeatable forensic techniques to identify, observe, and document malicious behavior safely.   Link
