For our project, we chose to focus on emotional challenges. The emotional challenge involves four specific emotions: anger, sadness, fear, and happiness. For the anger emotion, the robot is designed with two red eyes/LEDs, and it moves relentlessly forward. Upon contact with any obstacle, it will reverse and continue moving forward in a continuous cycle for the next 15-30 seconds. This is inspired by the behavior of a person getting angry and continuously reacting with repetitive actions. The second emotion is sadness. The LED for this emotion is blue, aiming to replicate the behavior of someone mopping. The robot moves slowly, and when it comes close to coming in contact with a surface, it slows down and stops. The third emotion, fear, is inspired by Scooby Doo. The robot's reaction is designed to mimic a scared response. It will go forward, and when it comes into contact with a wall or surface in front of it turns and will repeat the process. The LED color for the emotion is purple. The last emotion is happiness, represented by yellow/green LEDs. For happiness, the robot moves back in a swaying motion. This is to replicate the moving back and forth of going through a field.
