Portable Weight Sensed Countdown Timer (Team 23 ECE342-W25)

The detection timer is a compact, portable device designed to track elapsed time when an object is placed on its surface. It utilizes a load cell and HX711 amplifier to detect weight, with an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller managing all operations. A seven-segment display provides a clear countdown, while buttons allow users to set the desired time. For added functionality, the device includes an adjustable potentiometer for volume control, an LM386 amplifier for audio alerts, and a three-way switch to toggle an LED indicator. A voltage regulator ensures reliable power delivery. Encased in a custom portable 3D-printed housing, the detection timer is neatly wired for a clean, self-contained design. This device is useful in various applications, such as monitoring rest times in workouts or tracking object usage in different settings. Its user-friendly interface and precise functionality make it a reliable timing solution. The main challenges we faced during this project was figuring out which microcontroller to use. We were choosing between the Arduino Uno R3 and the ESP32. In the end, we choose the Arduino Uno R3 due to its user friendly design.
