Stormwater Backup Detection System

The project is a device that attaches to the metal grate covering many storm drains. An external sensor attached to the device will detect the presence of standing water, and using this data will report back to a centralized database the presence and location of this water such that maintenance crews can come to clear the blockage. On board solar panels will allow for the charging of a battery used to keep the device operational during long periods of time between maintenance. The purpose of the project is to aid in the reporting and fixing of stopped drains.
