“The Kutchony” Custom Timer EJ15 ECE342-S24

For our project, we created a custom timer. Our custom timer offers features such as adjustable volume at 440Hz, a snooze button, and adjustable brightness levels for the display. The timer is also very precise, as it manages to be off by less than one second per minute. With the attached battery pack, you can manually cut power to the system at any time. Our enclosure also ensures that our custom timer adheres to IP43 ratings. With all of these features, you can use our timer for a variety of different activities such as implementing common study techniques like the pomodoro or acting as a timer for a game. To create our custom timer, we used a Teensy 3.2 microcontroller board to handle most functionality with our display and buttons. The microcontroller was used to control values displayed as well to count down correctly and precisely. Additionally, we used a potentiometer to implement adjustable volume for the custom timer. One notable accomplishment for our custom timer is how compact it is. We were able to fulfill all of our requirements and create a compact and efficient PCB which housed all of our components. One area of improvement in the future could be to create a more robust enclosure that ensures the safety of our electronics from falls.
