The submission for the ENGR 103 final. We chose the emotion challenge for our robot to do. Members: Cryus Ho and Dean Leon 200 word description: The assembly of out robot took longer than anticipated. During studio 9, we got most of the frame assembled but neither of us had any real soldering experience. This led us to struggle for a bit, having to remove more than we placed, but eventually we got it under control. We had to come back during office hours to finish the robot, and even then, we were on time constraints as both of us had very busy schedules. After that, the tapper to widen the screw holes was lost during the office hours, making us wait until studio 10 to finish construction. In studio 10, we finished the assembly, and started the code for the challenge. The goal was to make our robot convey 4 emotions through movement. We captured these emotions to the best of our ability using the code given. It took some time for us to figure out what the code did exactly, but we successfully reverse engineered it so we could convey some emotions. In the video they are happy, angry, sad, and scared. Given that we could only really do basic movements, most of the emotions consist of the basic movements in certain speeds and orders. Happy is spinning around, while angry is shaking back and forth. Sad, is slowly backing up, while scared is turning around and running away. The biggest challenge we faced was probably assembly, both of us are CS majors, and we do better with the software side of things.
