This project is to design and implement a safety system for a Heads Up Display used in airliner jets. Using a magnet and a magnetic sensor, we can detect an arcminute of displacement, 1/60th of a degree or about 10 micrometers. The HUD behaves similarly to a head visor in a car. When used, the HUD must be aligned properly in order for the pilot to receive accurate information. More than 10 arcminutes of misalignment can give the pilot inaccurate information. This can detriment the landing procedures of the aircraft and induce an aviation accident. The Advance Alignment System is designed to monitor the HUD's position and notify the pilot if the HUD is aligned or not.
