Engr 103 Final

Engr 103 Final Project (Jayden Jensen and Samuel Vernick) Our project aims to develop a robot capable of expressing the emotions Happy, Sad, Angry, and Scared through a combination of body language and LED lighting. To begin with we first had to decide what motions we could have our robot do and colors it would emit that would accurately imitate the emotions we were going for. For “Sad” we have the robot move until it senses an object in front of it. Once an object is detected it proceeds to drive into that object and repeatedly run into it. Imagine a person repeatedly ramming into a wall and that's the type of sadness we were attempting to imitate. For “Happy” we have the robot spin repeatedly on end. Imagine a dog or some sort of pet doing this at your feet and that is what we’re attempting to imitate For “Fear” We have the robot start off by driving forward until it senses an object in front of it. Once an object is sensed the robot will reverse at full speed, turn slightly, then drive forward again. Imagine that the robot is Scooby Doo approaching a door and once it opens, he jumps back, turns away, and runs. For “Angry” The idea was for the robot to imitate a child's temper tantrum. To show this we had the robot do seeming random motion at full speed. Essentially it would drive all around, turn all the time, run into things, all while doing so at full speed.
