This project is a dual-channel DC power supply with 2-14V, 0-1.5A across each channel. It can be used as part of an electronics workbench and is useful for experimenting and testing small electronics. The device has an LCD display, and can be controlled by either the potentiometers and switches on the front of the device or by SCPI commands via Serial link. The enclosure is fan-cooled. Some of the main challenges we faced throughout this project was dissipating adequate heat and creating a 3A AC-DC converter. Future goals for this project include enhancing accuracy of the supply mode, increasing the size of the case to allow for better airflow, and improving transient response to minimize voltage spikes when a load is disconnected. We also struggled with the lead times on specific components. In future projects, intentional design choices to use off-the-shelf components and common IC packages will be prioritized. Designing components to be replaceable and resilient is critical to successful product delivery.
